__“ARE YOU PUSHING THE MEDIUM IN A NEW WAY?”__

Today in my photo class my T.A. brought up the question of “are you pushing the medium in a new way?” and the idea that it’s frustrating as a photographer to feel like you can't get to the point of where you’ve done something that no one has ever done before.

I feel that as a photographer it’s important to me to recognize a difference between a good photo and something revolutionary. The art of photography is one that’s been around quite a while and it’s difficult to produce something “revolutionary.” What is “revolutionary” anyway? Art and this term are such subjective terms that the lines that define these things are very blurry. It’s important to keep in mind that just because an image looks completely different than any photo ever seen and/or is done in some new, unheard of process doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a good photo.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t try to think in new ways or that doing something “revolutionary” is a hopeless cause, but it’s important to me to be able to be content with a good photo regardless of weather it looks similar to even one picture that’s ever been taken in the history of photography. That’s not to say that it’s ok to see something I admire and then get to a point of where I’m completely replicating a certain photo or style without reason, but to be able to be happy with my work simply because I feel that it’s good and regardless if it’s “revolutionary,” and to pass judgment on other works keeping this in mind.
__APRIL 1st__

The site has only officially been up for less than a day and already I've had over a thousand hits and lots of people come to check it out.

I've been constantly putting up more and more photos throughout the day and I still have more that I'd like to get up. So keep checking back as I'll constantly update and add photos.

I've got some good stuff planned for the future.

Thanks for the support and thanks for stopping by.
